About this line
The 111 is the largest regular production Shirogorov folder, a Sergey Shirogorov design named for its 111 mm blade and built for the American preference for larger folders. Production started 1 December 2011 and orders paused on 1 June 2012 for design changes. It uses a liner lock on titanium liners with a stainless steel insert, which collectors call the inset lock, under carbon fiber or titanium scales, and always has a backspacer. Five generations run from Gen 1 on SRBS, through MRBS from Gen 2, to Gen.5, announced 7 August 2021 with the blade thinned from 4.0 mm to 3.5 mm and a stepped cutout replacing the fuller; the current serial page is a Gen.5.1 with 3D carbon fiber. The Elements series of 100-piece themed editions opened with the Terrus in S90V with TechnoCarbo inlays on 19 October 2024, then the Aerum on 18 January 2025, the Ignis on 22 March 2025 and the Aquatic on 19 July 2025. Custom Division 111s on SRRBS, in runs of 50, include the Ti CD, the TiBr in Damasteel, the DeepSpace in S110V and the Starship in MagnaCut on a liner lock with an apron. The line is current.

Questions about the 111
How do you tell a 111 Gen.5 from a Gen 4 by the handle and flipper tab?
The 111 Gen.5 has a shaped lanyard hole, jimping on two angles of the flipper tab and no recess in the handle under the clip. The Gen 4 has a plain round lanyard hole, jimping on one angle of the tab and a recess under the clip. The Gen.5 lanyard hole follows the contours of the backspacer.
What colors was the 111 Gen.5 made in?
The 111 Gen.5 came in blue, purple and bronze carbon fiber. On each color the backspacer and clip are anodized to match the carbon fiber. The 111 Gen.5.1 is a separate model.
How does the flipper tab on the 111 Gen.5 differ from the 111 DeepSpace and the 111 Ti CD?
The 111 Gen.5 flipper tab is milled but has no cut-through window. The 111 DeepSpace and the 111 Ti CD have a window cut through the flipper tab, centered on the tab.
When was the 111 DeepSpace released?
The 111 DeepSpace was released in 2021, as the first Custom Division model of that year. The engraving CD 21 inside its backspacer marks the year, and the 1 marks its place in that year’s lineup.
When was the 111 Ti CD released?
The 111 Ti CD was released in 2018, alongside the Hati Bronze and the F3-B CD. Its serial number begins with its model year, and the blade logo is laser engraved in white instead of the usual black.
How do you identify a 111 Bronze CD?
The 111 Bronze CD has carbon fiber scales with bronze dust in the weave, a bronze backspacer with a gear pattern, and a bronze clip on a hidden screw. It was released in 2017 and carries the older sequential serial numbering.
