About this line

The Overkill series is the collaboration with RJ Martin based on his custom Overkill. The Russian Overkill opened it on 21 January 2021: a frame lock with textured titanium scales and deep milled reliefs, a pronounced flipper tab from the custom, flat primary bevels and no recurve, with dark grey anodized backspacer, clip and pivot collars; 200 pieces, sold by lottery. The Soft Overkill of May 2022 changed to a liner lock with titanium liners and micarta scales, a thicker handle closer to the custom; 300 pieces in three configurations of 100: canvas micarta with dark grey anodizing (1 to 100), black with blue (101 to 200), maroon with brown (201 to 300). The Molten Overkill of August 2023 returned to a frame lock with 3D Lava & Ash CarboTi inlays standing proud of the grey anodized handle, the first collaboration with a MagnaCut blade; 100 pieces. The Denim Overkill of December 2023 used Jeans micarta inlays, a stonewashed handle and polished backspacer and clip; 200 pieces. The Arctic Overkill of March 2024, an RJ Martin design like the other four, closed the series with a full silver Alutex presentation scale, an Alutex inlay in the titanium lock side and an etched ZDI-VG damascus blade, the thinnest and lightest Overkill; 100 pieces.

Questions about the Overkill

When did the Russian Overkill first appear?

The Russian Overkill first appeared at Blade Show 2019 as a full custom, a knife made by hand. A limited production run of 200 pieces followed.

How was the Molten Overkill sold?

The limited edition Molten Overkill was sold by lottery. Recon1, the workshop’s US distributor, ran it for buyers outside Russia, and the Shirogorov website ran it for buyers in Russia.

How do the rear screws differ across the Russian, Soft and Molten Overkill?

On the limited editions, the Russian Overkill has two screws at the rear of the lock side. Both are blind threaded: the holes stop inside the handle, so no rear screw shows on its show side. The Molten Overkill has one body screw on the lock side, and the Soft Overkill has one body screw, blind screwed into the opposite liner.

Is the Soft Overkill called the Russian Soft Overkill?

No, the name is Soft Overkill, not Russian Soft Overkill or Soft Russian Overkill.

Are the Soft Overkill liners milled out?

Yes, on the limited edition Soft Overkill the titanium liners are fully cut away into an open frame, so the Micarta scales show from inside the handle.
