Ask about a production model on the factory site shop@shirogorov.com. The factory shop sells to registered users in rubles; paying from outside Russia is difficult, and whether the factory will ship to a US customer is not settled, so for a buyer outside Russia the distributor and dealers are the route.
Buy new, outside Russia The factory’s distributor and dealers, on Where to buy and where to talk. Recon1 in Encino, California is the US distributor and runs the US lotteries.
Have a knife serviced or make a warranty claim The factory, by email with photographs, or the dealer who sold the knife. There is no factory-approved third-party service program. In the United States, Recon1, which sets the service cost and the arrangement. The warranty page has the terms.
Replace a lost certificate Recon1, for a knife it sold and for any Custom Division knife. The warranty follows the knife with or without the certificate.
Buy replacement parts or bits Replacement parts come from the dealers. Bits are the factory’s own or REK Products bits for the serial lines, and the Custom Division Tool carries the bits for Custom Division knives; Tools, supplies and preparation lists them.
Enter a lottery Your account on the factory site during the entry window; Recon1 for the US share of a run. How the collaborations work describes the pattern.
Commission a custom Sergey Shirogorov doesn’t take public commissions.
Talk to other owners The Facebook groups listed on Where to buy and where to talk, and the forum on shirogorov.com.

Sending a knife in

  1. Write first, don’t ship first. Email the factory or your dealer with a description of the fault, photographs of the problem area and of the whole knife, and a short history: when and where you bought it, whether anyone has had it apart, what was changed, and what lubricants and treatments have been used.
  2. Wait for the route. The factory examines the knife or the photographs and decides whether the case is covered; it or the dealer tells you where to send the knife. Nothing goes in the mail before that.
  3. In the United States, go through Recon1. It sets the service cost and the rest of the arrangement.
  4. Insure the parcel for the knife’s value. The factory and its dealers don’t compensate a knife lost or damaged in transit in either direction, so the insurance you buy is the only cover you have.
  5. Pack the knife closed and padded.
  6. Expect the knife back in its factory configuration. Warranty and service work doesn’t change a knife’s configuration, and work outside the warranty is billed to the owner.

Service, warranty and storage covers when to send a knife in rather than open it; the Service FAQ answers the rest.
