Buying FAQ
Authentication runs through the factory certificate and the box label, read against the knife. Recon1 can assist with knives whose history it has tracked, which does not extend to every knife it has ever sold, and the factory's official Instagram posts authentication features from time to time without a schedule.
It is a dating cue rather than an authentication test, and sits with the other cues on the authentication guide.
Authentication guide
Where to get help Authentication runs through the factory certificate. Recon1, the workshop's US distributor, can assist with knives whose history it has tracked, which does not extend to every knife it has ever sold. The BladeForums thread "Spotting a fake Shirogorov 95" is a side-by-side comparison and the best…
Authentication: what can and cannot be verified Most of what circulates about authenticating a Shirogorov is confidence dressed as method. Serial "formats by era," logo "generations," holographic certificates, markings stamped inside bearing races: none of them holds up. This page keeps only what does.
Buying, selling and value
A knife without its papers is authentication work waiting to happen, and the market prices that in; the Authentication guide is where that work starts. Beyond papers: unsharpened, uncarried examples with the factory edge and finish lead the band; disassembly hurts unless the listing says so; the period-correct pouch…
It doesn't buy a pass on authentication, because the same dealers sell pre-owned; the checks on the Authentication guide apply to a new purchase as much as a used one. Pre-owned buys access: discontinued models, sold-out variants, photographs of the specific knife on offer, and on serial models a price that usually…
Sprint Runs
Sprint Runs trade above production pieces, and the release-window premium compresses over one to two years on the same hype cycle as Custom Division; the CDX 10th Anniversary is the worked example on the tier ladder. Per-run figures, with venue, date and sample size, are in the price record, and Buying, selling and…
CannaBis
What to check on a CannaBis, in the order a buyer can check it. The box and the certificate carry the serial. The certificate names the model and specifications, and the TNK Edition's number is on it; the standard packaging is the branded box and microfiber cloth. A Mini CannaBis travels with its box, its signed…
111
What to check on a 111, in the order a buyer can check it. The box and the certificate carry the serial. Most 111s have no engraved serial; the original box and the certificate of authenticity (COA) are the record. A Custom Division 111 also carries its markings inside, on the scales and/or the backspacer, with a CD…
Accessories
Production knives ship in a box with a cloth and their paperwork, not a pouch; the authentication guide lists what should be in the box for each tier. The rest Item What it is Material Sold Shirogorov-Streltsov bottle opener Bottle opener, a joint piece with Streltsov Titanium Separately, at the time Belt buckle Belt…
Astrum
The authentication guide has the per-tier checklist. On this line the steel is a first check: a serial Astrum is M390, and a MagnaCut blade belongs to the First Production, the Touch set or the MagnaCut Custom Division run, each of which has its own paperwork. A Touch set is complete only with the Capsule Tool and…
Stellar
The authentication guide has the per-tier checklist. On the Stellar BearPattern the workshop logo is engraved on the largest bear of the milled pattern at the bottom of the handle. A Stellar Sinkevich Touch is complete only with its Ambi-Tool and pouch, the parts most often missing on the secondary market.
The Shirogorov story
The collaborations are a parallel track rather than a phase. Sinkevich has been the constant since 2010, and every project he has drawn for the workshop is on The Sinkevich projects. The Western designers came one at a time, from Tom Mayo in 2015 to Charles Marlowe in 2025, and each brought a construction the workshop…
How the designs evolved
Custom Division pieces carry deeper 3D work, the Seashell, Silk and Honeycomb among them, one of the cues on the authentication explainer. The lines share a small set of elements. The F95 is the drop point on a full titanium frame, most configurations without a backspacer, and the Hati is the same blade on an…
The RJ Martin Overkill family
The authentication guide has the per-tier checklist. Markers specific to this family: Both the Shirogorov and RJ Martin logos are on the blade flats of every Overkill, and the Russian Overkill certificate is signed by RJ Martin and Sergey Shirogorov. Soft Overkill serial ranges map to configuration: 1 to 100 canvas…
F95
What to check on an F95, in the order a buyer can check it. The box and the certificate carry the serial. Most F95s have no engraved serial; the original box and the certificate of authenticity (COA) are the record. A serial F95 without them is a knife you're buying on the physical checks alone.
NeOn
